What sets IntraHealth International apart from all of the other global health organizations in the world?
- WISDOM. With 29 years of experience in the field of global health, IntraHealth International brings wisdom, experience and expertise in all we do. We apply our years of experience as well as international evidence about what strategies work to improve health conditions. IntraHealth specializes in improving access and quality of needed health services in the areas of maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, and malaria prevention.
- COLLABORATION. We recognize that families, communities and nations must drive the design and execution of efforts to improve their health status. IntraHealth does not swoop into a developing country and apply ready-made solutions. We collaborate with local leaders and organizations to create solutions with far reaching results.
- INNOVATION. Known for our ground-breaking strategies, IntraHealth seeks creative solutions to address protracted health problems. To address the enormous challenge of the healthcare worker shortage, IntraHealth empowers community members to care for their friends and families. Through creative incentive programs, IntraHealth seeks to bring doctors and nurses back to their communities. Additionally, IntraHealth applies information technologies—including open source software, cell-phone and PDA driven solutions that empower local users to become partners in solving health challenges.
- GLOBAL PRESENCE. Since its inception, IntraHealth has worked in more than 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Near East and Eurasia implementing 30 projects. Currently, we are active in 27 countries with field offices in 4 continents. IntraHealth employs nearly 500 clinicians, public health specialists, evaluators, managers and support staff in its headquarters and a field offices round the globe. IntraHealth considers its employees to be its strongest asset, and strives to create a positive and supportive work environment.
- IMPACT. IntraHealth has a relentless commitment to achieving results and measuring the impact of its work. Over the last three decades, IntraHealth has reached hundreds of thousands of health care workers with updated skills and knowledge. In the last year alone, nearly 145,000 people were tested for HIV through our programs, including 86,000 pregnant women. In two of our largest country programs—Senegal and Rwanda—we helped more than 140,000 pregnant women last year be able to have a skilled birth attendant during delivery. Skilled attendance at birth overwhelmingly increases the chances of survival for both mother and baby.
