Progressive Vision, Positive Change—Building Capacity For A Healthier Rwanda

Rwandan medical staffIntraHealth will host an auxiliary event on progress in strengthening health care in Rwanda at the 35th Annual International Conference on Global Health in Washington, DC, May 28. Through storytelling , presentations   and moderated discussion this event will explore six aspects of Rwanda’s health care development:

  • Strengthening human resources for health
  • Improving health policy, planning, and information
  • Building partnerships at the community, district, and national levels
  • Decentralizing and integrating services
  • Repositioning family planning
  • Assessing and addressing gender-related barriers to health care.

Highlighting the Rwandan government’s vision for universal health care, participants include the Director of Policy and Capacity Building for Rwanda’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Claude Sekabaraga; the Coordinator of the Measurement and Evaluation Task Force for Rwanda’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Stephen Karengera; and Pape Gaye, IntraHealth’s President and CEO. IntraHealth/Rwanda staff will share information on Rwanda’s culture and on the context of their work.

This event will take place at the Blue Room of the Omni Shoreham Hotel, in Washington, DC, from 6–8 pm on May 28. For more information on auxiliary events, please see the Global Health Council Conference website.
