Costa Rica

Costa Rica mapCosta Rica is rich in biological diversity, with rapid growth in its technological industries. However, its continuing development is under threat from a rising HIV/AIDS rate.  The country’s health workers need training in HIV/AIDS treatment and care and reducing stigma in health care facilities against people living with HIV/AIDS.

IntraHealth works in Costa Rica through USAID’s Capacity Project to:

  • Train the faculty of regional health professional schools on preventing HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination
  • Improve the access of health providers and universities’ faculty and students to current HIV/AIDS and TB knowledge and tools through the Internet
  • Improve HIV/AIDS service provision
  • Improve supervision and human resource management systems.
